Some days I’m organized… most days I’m not!

If you happen to come into my home as a first time visitor the house would be neat and clean, well minus the many stains on the carpet, lol. When family and friends are planning to come by I give them a disclaimer: my house is a mess and I don’t plan on cleaning it today. I’m sure having a lazy spirit doesn’t make it any better, but I’m trying though. I wish I could afford a live in nanny to keep help keep us on a routine or a maid just to help with cleaning! With keeping the house tidy and the boys on a schedule, finding a balance to this beautiful madness is challenging. As much as I would love to keep the house spick and span sometimes I find it pointless.

Graduating to a new level

We can sense the fun we will have this year. It’s as if this year we’re more connected and ready to take on new challenges. We know what to expect from each other, we know our boundaries, we know our likes, and dislikes. A year of accepting things just the way they are! It’s like we’ve graduated to a new level of our marriage!

Precipitous Labor

Ryan helping me through an intense contraction minutes after walking from triage to the delivery room. And Minutes before giving birth in the bathroom.

Ryan helping me through an intense contraction minutes before giving birth in the bathroom.

Some of my friends may call me a super woman when it comes to giving birth naturally (vaginally, with no drugs) truth is I was surprised myself how I gave birth to my handsome boys. I don’t know if it’s because of the investment in birthing classes we took, or how much I grew closer in Christ during each pregnancy? I like to think both. Can you believe I was little nervous about getting pregnant a 3rd time? I feel like when I go into labor this go round, I’ll have this one at home or maybe in the car on the way to the hospital. Or if I sneeze the baby will just come out!! Continue reading

Preparing for the new addition…

Last week I was posed a question from my dear friend “How I’m I adjusting with being pregnant with Baby #3?”. I responded, “nothing to really adjust at this point besides making sure my two BUSY sons don’t ram me in the tummy”. So I’m back to that whole, you know, protecting my stomach. Blocking anything that comes closer than 2 feet! Honestly, I can’t really focus on the adjustments until I get to the Third Trimester. Besides, RJ (age 3) is going through the terrible 3’s “Telling me what he’s not going to do” (Lord give me strength), and Cameron (age 21 mths), is already starting terrible 2’s “Doing whatever the heck he wants” (I pray again Lord give me strength). lol

The kids are asleep- Date Night!!

With all that we got going on, our jobs, kids, family and friends we have to remember to take our spouse off the back burner.  In order for me to get some quality time with my hubs, I had to develop a night time routine for the boys. That’s when I finally broke and compromised on this Cry-It-Out method.

It’s really important that we have a schedule not only for the boys but for us so that we can enjoy each other, recoup and prepare for the next day. Once we got the kids night time routine set, by 9pm Ryan and I have time to kick back and relax for an in home Date Night!

15 Minute Cry it Out- Our method

Struggling with getting rest and having quality time with my husband I had to compromise on letting my little man cry it out. The pediatrician said it was time and plus hubby kept saying I was babying him. I took to Google and read how hundreds of moms did the cry it out method and found something I was willing to try.

Disclaimer: Please note this method was not used to ignore my babies while they cried. It was simply a method of sleep training my children. Some may call it a “Controlled CIO method”. Please use you’re best discretion when deciding to start CIO. For me I sensed that both of my boys were only using me (breastfeeding) to pacify themselves knowing that they were fully fed, changed and burped and ready for bed.

Ok here’s my CIO method.

To the Unbalanced Balance

DevelopAWayToBalanceI’m here to tell you it’s ok if you don’t have it all together. Heck, understanding that you don’t have a balanced life is half the battle! For one, you’re human and two, no one is perfect. We are all dealing with the many stresses of life. Whether it be work, finances, your physical health, marriage/relationships, parenting, or becoming a new mom or father… we’re all trying to find that common ground. In order to relieve these stressors, you have to “develop a way to balance“. We will forever bounce between the unbalanced and balanced.

Overloading a New mom

What to Do?

“Everybody gets so much information all day long that they lose their common sense.” — Gertrude Stein

It starts from the moment you find out you’re pregnant! Advice from family, friends, strangers, doctors and various websites. Not only can it be overwhelming but also very confusing and stressful. When you get overloaded with ton’s of parenting information you start to lose your instincts, your gut feeling, your common sense. Continue reading
